What are your guilty pleasures? I know we all take some time to do things that we feel guilty for on some level. Especially if you are a parent! You must take some down time to recharge your mental health or you can't do what you do best. I know that in order for me to care for my loved ones and children to the fullest I must take at least thirty minutes out of every day to decompress. Here are a few things I like to do:
- Take a bubble bath
- Read a few chapters of a good book (preferably in that bubble bath)
- Lock the bedroom door and "disappear" to a virtual paradise in my mind
- Take a drive with the windows down and the music blaring
- Surf the internet, play online/installed games
- Listen to my favorite music and dance like there is no one watching
- Sing my heart out to my favorite music
- Spend some time with close friends
- Curl up with my loved one and watch movies and laugh together
- Take a nap
It has been proven that we as human beings need a little time each day to care for our own mental health. It is also proven that we do not care for the one thing that is most important…….Ourselves!
